The Company was founded in 1972 as a drilling and blasting entity, trading as Blasting & Excavating (Pty) Ltd.
In 1976 the Company launched itself into the mobile crushing field. It formed a JV Company with LTA, known as Construction Quarries Ltd.
In 1982 Blasting & Excavating (Pty) Ltd disposed of its interest in Construction Quarries Ltd and formed their own crushing division.
In 1989 Blasting & Excavating (Pty) Ltd restructured to enable the two management teams to concentrate on their core businesses, Blasting & Excavating (Pty) Ltd on drilling and blasting and B & E Quarries (Pty) Ltd on mobile crushing.
In 1991 AECI acquired a 50% stake in Blasting & Excavating (Pty) Ltd. B & E Quarries (Pty) Ltd, although not part of the merged operations, remained closely associated with Blasting & Excavating (Pty) Ltd.
In July 1996, a restructure took place which saw common shareholding in the two Companies cease and B & E Quarries (Pty) Ltd started to operate totally independently.
In May 1998 B & E Quarries (Pty) Ltd changed it''s name to B & E International (Pty) Ltd which reflected the growth of the Company into Africa and international markets as well as the diversification of its business.
In the following period the company purchased Willow Quarries (Pty) Ltd, a commercial quarry in Pretoria, ventured into hard rock mining at Kalgold in the Northwest Province by starting and acquiring full ownership of DBE Mining (Pty) Ltd and started a commercial quarry in Gaberone, Botswana, Notwane Quarries (Pty) Ltd.
In this period the Company also restructured its shareholding, forming B & E International Holdings (Pty) Ltd, which purchased the entire share capital in all of the companies in the Group.
In 2004 the company relocated its Head Office from Port Elizabeth to Pomona, East Rand, Gauteng.
In 2008, the company was acquired by Raubex (Pty)Ltd. |
